TruSens Air Purifier Reviews Guide

When it comes to the buying options for a TruSens air purifier, you have three choices:

While each of these air purifiers cleans the air in the same way, there are some functional differences between them that you should know about.

To make things easy for you, this TruSens guide will be divided into two parts:

  • TruSens Z-3000 and Z-2000 Reviews
  • TruSens Z-1000 Review

Both the large and medium TruSens air purifiers (Z-3000 and Z-2000) offer the same set of features, with the exception of room size coverage. So we’ll review and compare these two products together.

The small TruSens air purifier (Z-1000) lacks some of the features that are included with the other two models, so we’ll go over that one separately.

TruSens Z-3000 and Z-2000 Air Purifier Reviews

The great thing about TruSens air purifiers is that they include all of the top technologies to produce the cleanest air possible.

When you buy a TruSens air purifier, you’ll have a machine that works 24/7 to strip these types of contaminants out of the air you breathe:

  • Dust
  • Pollen
  • Allergens
  • Pet dander
  • Mold spores
  • Bacteria
  • Viruses
  • Smoke
  • Odors
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

The true power behind the large (Z-3000) and medium (Z-2000) TruSens air purifiers is the air filtration process that includes these filters:

TruSens Z-3000 and Z-2000 Filter Types

Graphic of TruSens Air Filter 4 Levels
  • Pre-filter – The role of the pre-filter is to catch any large allergens or debris that come into the machine. This includes dirt, hair, dust and other larger particle substances. The nice thing about this particular filter is that when it’s washable and reusable for the life of the product.
  • True HEPA Filter – This filter is in place to catch the smaller particles that can slip through the pre-filter. It’s certified to catch 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size. This includes things like particulate matter, mold spores, dust, and allergens that are known for causing health problems.
  • Activated Carbon Filter – The role of this particular filter is to reduce household odors, smoke, and VOCs. Not only does this make your air cleaner, but it also makes your home smell better. (See our guide on what does an activated carbon filter do for more details.)
  • Ultra Violet Light – Viruses and bacteria are no match for the UV light on this machine. As soon as these microbes pass through this filter, they’re destroyed, making your air germ-free and reducing the chances of spreading harmful illnesses.

As for how long these air filters and UV light last, you can plan on replacing the Activated Carbon filter every 3-4 months, the True HEPA filter every 12-15 months, and the UV light every 1-3 years.

Photo of Large and Medium TruSens Air Purifiers

In addition to powerful air purification, the large and medium TruSens air purifiers also have these advanced features (most of which are not found on competitor air purifier brands):

  • 360-Degrees of Filtration – The round design of these air purifiers makes it possible for them to draw air in from all corners of the room. Most air purifiers only have intake vents on the front (or sides). The TruSens design makes these machines much more efficient at cleaning the air.
  • Dual Airflow – After conducting rigorous tests, the TruSens manufacturers found that by splitting the airflow into two streams delivers purified air more effectively into the room at a rate of 24% more efficiency than air purifiers with a single airflow.
  • Variable Fan Speeds – The large TruSens air purifier has five fan speeds while the medium one has four. You can choose a specific speed for your liking or let the SensorPod change the speeds automatically for you.
  • SensorPod – This amazing feature actively monitors the room and takes action to ensure the air quality is where it needs to be. You place it on the opposite side of the room and it sends a signal to the air purifier to automatically adjust the fan speed to remove detected contaminants.
  • LED Display – This feature displays the exact air quality reading inside the room. TruSens uses the 1-500 point Air Quality Index (AQI) scale created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that relates to particulate matter of 2.5 microns or larger:
    • Good = 1-50
    • Moderate = 50-100
    • Poor = 100-500
  • LED Light – The LED light changes color depending on the air quality reading:
    • Good = Blue
    • Moderate = Yellow
    • Poor = Red
  • Filter Change Indicators – When any one of these turns red, you know that it’s time to switch out that particular filter.
  • Carrying Handle – This makes transporting the machine convenient and easy.
  • Timer – This feature allows you to run the machine for 2, 4, 8, and 12-hour time limits before it automatically shuts off.
  • Night Mode – At night, the lights dim on the machine so they don’t disturb you while you’re sleeping.

TruSens Z-3000 and Z-2000 Room Size Coverage

The total room size coverage is where the large and medium TruSens air purifiers start to differ.

Here’s how the TruSens Z-3000 vs Z-2000 compares:

  • The large size model covers very large spaces up 750 sq. ft.
    • This makes it good for open floor plans, large basements, apartment living areas, workshops, and big bedrooms.
  • The medium size model is for medium to large size rooms up to 375 sq. ft.
    • This makes it good for average size bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and semi-finished basements.

TruSens Z-3000 and Z-2000 ACH and CADR Ratings

All air purifiers have an ACH rating (Air Changes Per Hour) but not all have a CADR rating (Clean Air Delivery Rate).

The ACH rating is a measurement of the number of times per hour the air purifier can exchange the full volume of air in a particular size room.

For both the large and medium models, the ACH rating is 2x. This means that these devices can completely filter the air two times each hour (or every 30 minutes).

As for the CADR rating, this air purifier doesn’t have it. This rating comes from an independent test conducted by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM). For these machines, the manufacturer decided to do their own laboratory tests to ensure their efficiency against dust, pollen, and tobacco smoke.

That’s not to say that the TruSens air purifiers are not as good as they claim. It’s just that a consumer-trusted third party has not validated the claims. However, not all air purifier brands choose to hire the AHAM to perform these tests since it does cost them money.

Trusens Z-3000 and Z-2000 Design and Size

Both the large and medium TruSens air purifiers have a nice modern, round, tower shape.

Their size makes them easy to fit in any part of a room and their design looks good in practically any space.

However, there is some noticeable size differences between the TruSens Z-3000 vs Z-2000:

As for the exact height and weight for the large air purifier, this includes:

  • 29″ (H) x 13″ (W) x 13″ (D)
  • 18 pounds

The height and weight for the medium air purifier are:

  • 22″ (H) x 8″ (W) x 8″ (D)
  • 9 pounds

Who are the TruSens Large and Medium Air Purifiers for?

  • Anyone who has a medium to large size space to cover, such as a living room, bedroom, office, basement, open floor plan, kitchen, dining room, etc.

TruSens Z-1000 Air Purifier Review

This next section of our TruSens air purifier reviews will cover the small (Z-1000) model.

We’ll keep it brief since the air purification process is the same as the large and medium air purifiers.

The main differences between the TruSens Z-1000 vs Z-2000 and Z-3000 are the room size coverage and the included features.

Here’s how everything compares:

Graphic of TruSens Air Filter 3 Levels

TruSens Z-1000 Filter Types

  • Combined Pre-filter and Activated Carbon Filter – This wraps both filters into one piece and does double duty of catching larger pollutants such as pet hair, dirt and other debris, and reducing odors and chemical vapors.
  • True HEPA Filter – Identical to the large and medium TruSens models, this filter also captures microscopic particles down to 0.3 microns in size; the ones that are most harmful to your health.
  • Ultra Violet Light – As with the other two models, this technology destroys bacteria, viruses, and other germs to reduce the spread of illness.

TruSens Z-1000 Top Features

  • 360-Degrees of Filtration – Same as the large and medium-sized models. This increases the efficiency of the device versus a flat filter.
  • Dual Airflow – Same as the large and medium-sized models. This feature makes the device 24% more efficient at blowing purified air into the room.
  • 3 Fan Speeds – This includes low, medium, and turbo speeds.
  • Filter Change Indicators – When it’s time to change the filters, the indicator light will turn red.
  • Carrying Handle – This feature makes it easy to carry the machine from one room to the next.

The features that the TruSens Z-1000 model is missing vs the TruSens Z-2000 and Z-3000 air purifiers include:

  • No SensorPod – It can’t automatically detect the air quality inside the room. You must change the fan speeds yourself.
  • No LED Display – Without the SensorPod, an accurate air quality reading cannot be detected. Therefore, the LED display is not included.
  • No Timer – You can’t set this model up to automatically turn off after a set number of hours.
